I come from an English family.  My 13X Great Grandfather and Grandmother were John and Priscilla Alden.  Growing up in western Massachusetts, my mother and I would frequently see my Grandmother for afternoon tea.  As a child, I would run into her home and immediately go to the China cabinet where I would choose my teacup for the day.  I inherited those teacups (as well as the China cabinet), and picked up a bunch more along the way.  This quilt, with the layer cake used, reminds me of those teacups.  Dainty and feminine.  We should all be drinking tea from pretty teacups on white iron chairs in a garden of roses.  And always remember what my Grandmother used to say…”Tea is not tea unless it is poured.”
