Growing up in Western Massachusetts, we didn’t see much sun from November to March.  I recall as a child arriving home on the school bus and it would already be dark outside.  Now, as an adult, part of me longs for those gray days of winter.  Don’t get me wrong – by February I’m ready for some sunny days again.  But nostalgia is a crazy thing.  When I look at this panel from Riley Blake, I’m transported back to my childhood with those long, gray days of cold weather and warm fires.  In this scene, Santa is able to contribute some pops of red, green and gold.  I hope you enjoy making this simple, quick quilt to keep warm under during those long gray days of the season.
